In June 2021, Girraway Ganyi Consultancy was awarded ‘Highly Commended’ for the Girraway Ganyi Consultancy YouTube channel
in the 2021 HART AWARDS.
The HART Awards (Helping Achieve Reconciliation Together),
launched in 2014, recognises initiatives by local governments and community organisations that are advancing reconciliation in Victoria.
During COVID19, AJ envisioned a portal where Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people could share their stories, thoughts and experiences in a way that would allow Indigenous narratives to be told by Indigenous people themselves. These stories & experiences are able to viewed by all people (Indigenous & non-Indigenous), allowing Indigenous understandings of personal histories, experiences, facts & strategies to be heard in an attempt to achieve reconciliation.
In partnership with Scotch College, Camberwell Grammar School, Woodleigh School, local Elders, Aboriginal Health Workers & non-Indigenous allies – a total of 105 short videos were written, recorded, edited and uploaded to the Girraway Ganyi Consultancy YouTube channel
for viewing.
As part of his Diploma of Youth Work & Diploma of Community Services Work. Ash Tchen (Mentor & Deadly Thinking Trainer) interviewed students, edited and produced many of the films seen on the channel.
